This page is dedicated to the presentation of the information we receive at the Wellswood Civic Association regarding the redevelopment of the property Crosswinds Church 1510 W Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, FL 33603
The Wellswood Civic Association will not take a stance on this development on behalf of the community as we are split in our response to it. We have created this page to be sure everyone is informed about what communications and messages we get from the developers and community regarding this process.
Once this project has come to completion (after rejection or ground breaking) we will deactivate this page, which is approximately 2 years from now May 2022.

Updates:
2/8/2024: Our special call meeting is Monday 2/12/24 7 pm at the Wellswood Civic Center. We will have half of the Gilbane team presenting to the neighborhood as the other half will be before the planning commission to discuss changes to the Tampa Comprehensive plan as a privately initiated request brought forth by Gilbane to change the designation from Community Mixed use-35 to Urban Mixed Use-60. This will change the potential use of land, including the zoning districts and the density and intensity of use that can be considered in the future if adopted by the Tampa City Council. The Planning Commission hearing is Monday 2/12 5:30 pm at the County Center Building: 601 E Kennedy Blvd, 18th Floor or online information: https://planhillsborough.org/planning-commission-agendas
There is also a tenative City Council first reading scheduled for 2/22/2024 before City Council, 5:01 pm (hybrid session), which will most likely be postponed until March 21, 2024 due to the Planning Commission hearing outcome. See the attached notice below of these two meetings for reference.
1/2/2024 The developer has changed on the Crosswinds Project. It is now Gilbane Development Company. The previous developer LoopTack is still involved with the project, but Gilbane is now the new developer. They presented the latest plans to the Wellswood Civic boad on 1/2. We have called a special meeting for February 12th, 7 pm Wellswood Civic Center: 4806 Wishart Blvd, to listen to the latest plan updates. Many of the requested updates have been included from our last conversation with them. Below are the updated plans and presentation. The intent of the special call meeting is to dedicate an hour to them to review the plans with the community membership and allow time for feedback. They will review the community feedback, institute feasible changes and present that again at our March 11th community meeting before they go before City Council in late March. Notice of the special call meeting is shared through email and social media as of 8 pm today.
8/9/2023 We have no new updates on this project. Last we heard it has stalled. We keep an eye on the City Council CARES newsletter each month that states the agenda before council and have not seen it listed. We were advised the developer is keeping up with it contractual support of the Crosswinds church during this delayed period. Once we get more information we will inform the community. Tina H.
